Tokyo, Japan and Santa Clara, California, April 4, 2000 – Oki Electric Industry Co., Ltd. (Oki) and DSP Group, Inc., (NASDAQ: DSPG) today announced that the two companies are continuing their cooperation in the development of cutting edge DSP applications. After previously licensing DSP Group's OakDSPCore®, Oki has now licensed TeakLite® from DSP Group. These state-of-the-art core technologies will allow Oki to integrate its in-house mixed-signal expertise and to strengthen its position in the audio, cellular, video, VoIP and other consumer product arenas.
Oki is a world leader in providing System LSI solutions with proven success in the marketplace. Together with Oki's mixed signal capability, the licensing of the OakDSPCore and TeakLite DSP Core further enhances Oki's System LSI offerings in applications where high-performance signal processing is required.
TeakLite is a 16-bit general-purpose DSP core designed for low power speech and audio processing, wireless communication, modems, advanced telecommunication systems and embedded-control applications. It is designed for low power, low voltage and high-speed Digital Signal Processing applications.
"We believe that TeakLite, with its low power and high- performance capabilities, will become a key ingredient in the design of many Oki Silicon Platform Architecture (SPA) LSI solutions," said Tetuzo Taniguti, General Manager of LSI Division, Oki Electric Industry Co., Ltd.
Issachar Ohana, Director of Core Licensing at DSP Group stated, "We are honored by Oki's decision to extend its IP portfolio to include TeakLite. This reflects Oki's confidence in our technology and the close working relationships that we maintain with our customers." Mr. Ohana concluded, "Oki has now joined the growing list of DSP Group's existing licensees who have come back to adopt our new generation of fully synthesizable DSP Cores."
DSP Group specializes in the development of high-performance DSP Cores. The SmartCores™ family of licensable DSP cores consists of PineDSPCore®, OakDSPCore®, TeakLite® Teak® and PalmDSPCore®, which are backward compatible and provide ideal solutions for low-power system-on-a-chip applications.
