LATAM Market Leader Intelbras Chooses DSP Group's XciteR(TM) Platform to Power IP Phones
Intelbras Selects XciteR to Power Its SME IP Phones and DECT IP Phones for Its High Level of Integration, Superb Voice Processing, Superior Cost-Performance and DECT/CAT-iq Connectivity

SAN JOSE, Calif., May 6, 2013 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- DSP Group®, Inc. (Nasdaq:DSPG), a leading global provider of wireless chipset solutions for converged communications, announced today that Intelbras selects its innovative VoIP chipset solution to drive the company's IP phone and DECT IP phone product lines. Based in Brazil, Intelbras is an innovative manufacturer of analog phones, DECT phones and IP voice/video telephony products, catering primarily the growing LATAM market.

A state-of-the-art, highly integrated system-on-a-chip solution (SoC), XciteR is ideal for the development of low to mid-range IP phones with or without DECT. Leveraging a productive and pre-existing relationship with DSP Group, Intelbras uses the VoIP chipset solution to lower design and bill of material costs and speed up time to market.

Targeting small-to-medium enterprises (SMEs) and consumers, Intelbras IP phones enable seamless replacement of legacy analog telephones with fully-featured devices that provide access to more advanced IP services with the addition of High Definition Voice and DECT/CAT-iq extensions.

Anchored by a high-performance ARM926™ application processor running Linux OS and a strong DSP processor, XciteR is suitable for developing innovative VoIP endpoints. Providing wide range of embedded software features, including HD voice and superb acoustical echo cancellation for best hands free speakerphone experience, the chipset solution ensures minimal development investment and a low bill of materials (BOM).

"Our decision to use DSP Group's XciteR in our new VoIP product line is driven by the chipset's high level of integration, superior cost-performance and DECT/CAT-iq support," said Susana Brockveld, Business Unit Director at Intelbras. "The solution offers us a solid foundation for developing a wide range of low-cost, feature-rich IP phones which will help us further solidify our leadership in the rapidly-evolving LATAM VoIP market," she concluded.

"We're pleased to be working with Intelbras on the development of its next-generation series of IP phones," said Fredy Rabih, Vice President, VoIP Product Management at DSP Group. "The alliance strengthens our long term partnership with Intelbras in the VoIP space, as we together continue to set the industry standard for IP phones, grow market share, and move full steam ahead on our robust VoIP roadmap," he continued.
