DSP Group and Mango DSP Announce Math-Link EDS for DSP Group's SmartCores

Math-Link EDS™ Engineering Development System for DSP Group's SmartCores™

San Jose, California, DSP World Spring Design Conference, April 11, 2000, – Mango DSP Ltd., (Mango), a leading developer and manufacturer of advanced software and hardware products based on DSP processing technology, together with DSP Group, Inc. (Nasdaq: DSPG), the leader in licensing of high-performance, cost-effective digital signal processor cores, announced today the development of Math-Link EDS, the SmartCores connection to MATLABâ . The Math-Link EDS is a breakthrough technology for designing complex DSP real-time applications.

Michael Berlin, President of Mango said, "Mango Math-Link EDS is a unique concept that integrates the ubiquitous MATLAB tool set with DSP Group's SmartCores DSP software. The Mango's Math-Link EDS outstanding advantage is that it puts all of the SmartCores' computing power at your fingertips. This high-level DSP Software development environment takes the developer directly from the algorithm level to the SmartCores assembler code using the familiar MATLAB commands."

The Math-Link EDS enables engineers to bring a host of applications to market faster than ever before. EDS is a unique DSP software development environment that integrates the familiar MATLAB tool to target DSP real-time code. Now, for the first time, designers can leap over entire phases of the development cycle by going directly from MATLAB to target DSP real-time code. The EDS DSP Code generator and its advanced real-time and interactive debugger/analyzer, efficiently incorporates MATLAB algorithms into DSP SmartCores. This innovative method ensures early detection and solution of critical design and implementation difficulties. It simplifies the development cycle, thereby shortening the time-to-market and substantially reducing project risk and costs.

"The Math-Link EDS software package is configured to operate in conjunction with DSP Group SmartCores, consequently enhancing the development environment for our SmartCores family," said Bat-Sheva Ovadia, Director of Marketing and Business Development of DSP Group's Technology Licensing Division. "DSP Group is determined to provide licensees with an excellent development environment, which will ease the development cycle and contribute to the fast time-to-market race, when providing new products," Ovadia added.

The SmartCores family includes four generations of licensable DSP Cores – PalmDSPCore®, TeakDSPCore®, OakDSPCore® and PineDSPCore®. The PalmDSPCore is a dual MAC parallel architecture, with three core versions, 16-, 20- and 24-bit fixed-point DSPs. TeakDSPCore is a family of two 16-bit fixed point DSP cores: the dual MAC Teak® and the single MAC TeakLite™. PalmDSPCore and TeakDSPCore cores are fully-synthesizable 'soft cores' which are process-independent and are easily implemented using any ASIC library.
