Aspec Technology Takes OakDSPCore® and PineDSPCore® to 0.35 Micron and 0.25 Micron Process Technologies
  • Aspec is the only independent library and design services provider to have verified DSP Group cores with deep sub-micron technologies
  • Aspec has been approved for inclusion in DSP Group's Third-Party ASIC Design Services Group

Sunnyvale, Calif., August 12, 1998 – Aspec Technology, Inc. (NASDAQ:ASPC), a leading independent provider of Semiconductor Intellectual Property (SIP) libraries and design services, today announced that it has verified both the OakDSPCore and PineDSPCore 16-bit digital signal processor (DSP) cores with 0.35µ and 0.25µ process technologies. Verification was proven through DSP Group's Verilog simulation model and testbench. Aspec is the only independent library and design services provider to have verified DSP Group cores with deep sub-micron technologies.

Aspec Technology is making the OakDSPCore and PineDSPCore immediately available to its OEM customers as foundry-portable hard cores. Aspec customers can now design system-on-chip (SOC) products for maximum performance and silicon cost efficiency, while having foundry flexibility through Aspec's SureFlow™ customer-owned tooling (COT) design flow. Aspec customers can have their 0.35µ and 0.25µ SOC designs fabricated by the following Aspec foundry partners: Chartered, Hyundai, IBM, LG Semicon, Mitsubishi, National, Samsung, Sanyo Electric, TSMC and UMC.

"We are pleased to be working with Aspec Technology," stated David Tolub, Corporate Vice President Sales for DSP Group. "With Aspec, our OakDSPCore and PineDSPCore will be portable across many different fabs and processes, opening up tremendous opportunities in the COT marketplace."

"We implemented both DSP cores in a standard cell methodology to make the COT design flow run smoothly," said Bill Burkard, President of SIS Microelectronics, a subsidiary of Aspec Technology. "With the trend toward system-on-chip products using a COT design flow, the ability to optimize silicon performance and to easily integrate these proven DSP cores is key to our OEM customers' success."
