Allant and DSP Group introduce Multi-Core Debugging Environment for the TeakLite DSP Core

Orlando, Florida, DSP World Fall Design Conference, November 1, 1999 –Allant Software Corporation and DSP Group (Nasdaq: DSPG) today announced the launching of ASPEX by Allant® for the TeakLite™ DSP core from DSP Group. ASPEX is Allant's debugger and integrated development environment for embedded systems that incorporate DSP, RISC and SOC technologies.

"Allant is pleased to expand its System-On-Chip support by introducing ASPEX support for the TeakLite DSP core from DSP Group Inc. ASPEX provides mainstream development capabilities for designers using the TeakLite," stated Dan Jaskolski, President of Allant Software. "Its high-level debug capabilities and seamless integration with code generation tools from DSP Group, allow faster application development and hardware / software integration for TeakLite developers."

"The ASPEX release supports the continued efforts of DSP Group to provide the very best in class development tools for our DSP Cores' customers," added Eyal Ben-Avraham, Director of Development Tools and SW Support at DSP Group. "Having excellent development and debugging tools is a crucial requirement for realizing fast TeakLite based products development."

Allant's ASPEX is a complete development environment that includes an integrated, context-sensitive editor, build facilities, source code version control management, the ASPEX Debugger, code generation, and other software development tools. Allant's ASPEX provides a simple environment to support a single developer while at the same time, it is easily expandable to support a larger team of networked developers.

ASPEX is the only development environment that supports both the TeakLite and the ARM/Thumb processor core from ARM Ltd. According to Dan Jaskolski, "TeakLite is often paired with the ARM/Thumb core in wireless and portable applications. ASPEX, combined with Allant's VIA family of JTAG emulators provides support for synchronized debugging of both TeakLite and ARM cores. Additionally, developers benefit because it eliminates the need for them to spend time learning incompatible environments when they are designing using TeakLite and ARM cores."

TeakLite is a 16-bit, fixed-point, general-purpose DSP core. It provides an ideal solution for low-power, speech and audio processing, wireless communication, modems, advanced telecommunication systems, disk drive controllers and various embedded control applications. The TeakLite DSP Core is binary code compatible with the industry standard OakDSPCoreÒ . In order to meet various application requirements, the core has an improved set of digital signal processing and general microprocessor functions. The core is designed in a single edge clocking system which allow the use of full or partial scan testing methodologies. The core supports Emulation, Debugging and Testing via JTAG.

ASPEX for TeakLite integrated with the TeakLite Development Kit and the LDI ISA-interface card from DSP Group is available now. ASPEX and the VIA family of JTAG emulators for TeakLite will be available in December 1999 from Allant Software and its worldwide network of resellers.

About Allant Software Corporation

Allant Software Corporation, founded in 1996, applies advanced software debugging tools and technology to the rapidly expanding market enabled by embedded DSP, RISC and SOC technologies.

Allant provides high quality, high-value, open software development tools for software developers designing with single and mixed core architectures. Such developers frequently operate in a demanding environment that often requires solutions incorporated from a spectrum of complementary design alternatives including ASIC cores, embedded DSPs and micro-controllers, as well as complex multi-processor configurations, and off-the-shelf or custom turnkey board solutions. Allant's products enable software developers to significantly increase productivity and to successfully address their time-to-market requirements by providing unique support for mixed DSP and micro-processor SOC designs.
